The Kyoto Protocol: Success Or Failure?

According to Wikipedia The Kyoto Protocol is a protocol to the international Framework Convention on Climate Change with the objective of reducing Greenhouse gases that cause climate change. So It's ultimate goal is to significantly reduce the emissions of the greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. For those who signed the protocol (nations around the globe), it is necessary for them to confront the climatic issues that they contain.

The Kyoto Protocol specifically targets carbon-dioxide and five other gases that can trap heat in the atmosphere. Now, many countries around the globe have signed the pact but 2 of the nations refused to join: United States and Australia. United States happens to be the largest emmiter of them all. Of course US has a reason for that (not the only nation in the world though). By signing the pact US would loose its industrial and thus economical power. Personally i agree with that, but it's not justifiable just for US. All countries share this problem. There is also a catch. A lot of the participants in Kyoto Protocol haven't been able to or are not on the right track to properly reduce the emissions.

At the end, it doesn't even matter if you are a part of this program or not! For this particular reason i wouldn't agree that it has been (or is) a success, moreover i would rather call it a test drive into a bitter world of conservation.
